Competition

The Competitive Swimming Performance Awards, known as the sprint awards, cover all four strokes and are graded by Bronze, Silver and Gold categories. They give swimmers an opportunity to compete against the clock with achievable target times set within their capabilities.

We hold time trials as regularly as possible so check the notice board for dates. Times are then displayed on the notice board with a mention whenever a swimmer has achieved a Bronze, Silver or Gold time. The swimmers can claim their badges on Friday night.

When a swimmer achieves a qualifying time during a gala and wants to claim an award, please speak to Sue Lander.

The qualification table allows for different length pools. Strokes, starts, turns and finishes should be in accordance with ASA laws.

The badges can be purchased at a cost of £1.50 each and come with a signed certificate recognising the swimmer's achievement.

2011 SPEED TRIALS SCHEDULE

As most members are aware, we try to run regular “Speed Trials” as one of a number of measures to see how the children are progressing within the club.

This year we have decided to advise the Speed Trial schedule for the whole year so that children and parents alike know when and which ones are taking place.

The Trials will take place between 19.45 hrs and 20.45 hrs, so if you swim outside of these times you will need to make sure you are on poolside if you wish to have your time recorded.

As always we will need volunteers on the night to set up the pool, use a stop-watch and record the times, so don’t be shy at coming forwards as all help will be gratefully received.
